If Only I Had A Heart

Figure 1 - Tinman
Have you ever wondered how the Tinman found his heart?  What if I told you that traveling to Emerald City wasn't the way that the Tinman  got his heart and that he received a new one from organ donation (Figure 1).  The Tinman needed a new heart and was placed on the
Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network list to be matched with a donor(1).  Do you want to help the Tinman?  If so keep on reading...

How can I help the Tinman?
You can help the Tinman by becoming an Organ Donor!  Becoming an Organ Donor means that if someone in need of an Organ close to you needs one and you match some specific requirements you can give them yours!  No.... this does not mean that they take your organ from you while you are alive, but from you when you are dead.  So, if you are riding in the car one day with your parents and your car crashes killing everyone in it you can give your Organs and Tissue to over 25 people!
Figure 3 - Driver's License
 What can I donate?
Figure 2 - Organs/Tissues
By looking at the image to the left you can see all the possible donations that can be done while you are an organ donor.  Becoming an organ donor is as simple as checking "yes" on a box when you go to take your drivers test or even done by registering at a younger age on this website.  To the right is what it looks like on your drivers license when you are registered as an organ donor (Figure 3).  Don't be lazy, register to be an organ donor today.  I'm glad I did!

  1. Looks good! Very easy to read and I like the fact that you used the Tinman as a character to help out this would definitely interest children.

  2. You had a hard topic to convey to a young audience but handled it well. It was easy to read and understand. And using the Tinman as an example was perfect for this essay.
